Dundas Point Engagement

Choosing an engagement session location can seem like a daunting task, but it doesn’t have to be! My advice to make the decision a breeze? Choose a place that means something to you both, maybe it’s the coffee shop you frequent every Saturday morning together, or the comfort of your own home. For Lauren and Derek, it was the place they went on one of their first dates – Dundas Peak near Hamilton.

For those of you who haven’t heard of Dundas Peak, where have you been?! People have been flocking here for years now to take in the panoramic views of Spencer Gorge from atop this fragment of the Niagara Escarpment.

I hadn’t been to Dundas Peak yet, so when Lauren and Derek chose this location for their engagement shoot I was thrilled! As soon as we arrived, I knew the photos were going to be beautiful. With large, mature trees creating a canopy over us as we walked the path through the woods, I followed behind Lauren and Derek snapping photos as they lovingly reminisced about their date here years ago.

Another engagement session tip? Turn it into a date! This is usually the first time a couple has been in front of a professional photographer, so plan to do something to make you both feel more natural and at ease in front of the camera! I love that Lauren and Derek packed a picnic. They brought a bottle of wine and some chocolate and just enjoyed each other’s company!

Even though they chose this location for the views of Spencer Gorge (and what a view it is!), my favourite photos from this session are of Lauren and Derek picnicking, enjoying themselves and maybe even for a brief minute, forgetting this was indeed a photo session!

I am so looking forward to posting their beautiful wedding soon!
